Work Location and Week

We are designed to be flexible. As long as you show up to key client and internal meetings, are reasonably responsive during office hours, communicate with your team and put in at least 40 - do what works!

Part and Sum “office hours” are advertised as Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 7:00 pm ET.

Remote Communication

Slack

Slack is our primary means of communication. It is great for quick chats and easy to understand messages.

As a remote-first organization, it is important to remember that your slack habits might not be the same as everyone else’s.

Learn more in our Part and Sum’s Boundaries + Communication Guide

Loom

If you feel your message can be communicated in a few sentences or worry that the meaning will be lost via Slack, try a Loom to allow other team members to view at their convenience.

Google Meet / Zoom

Need to talk it out with the team or connect with clients? Use Google Meet or Zoom to get some face time.

<aside> 🎬 If you need to host a Zoom meeting that is longer than 40 minutes or need help setting up breakout rooms for workshops, ask @Jessica Grasmann for assistance BEFORE you get into the meeting where you need to use these features.

Meeting Etiquette

Remote First Mentality

If one person is remote, we are all remote: If you are sharing a space with someone and meeting with a remote client or team member, take that call either 1) from a conference room setup or 2) from respective workstations. Plan and communicate to ensure everyone feels included and has a voice

Client Facing Meetings

Client facing meetings must be held in a professional environment.

Please make sure you are dressed appropriately, have adequate lighting, and are in a quiet space with a neat background.

Scheduling Meetings with Clients

Appointment scheduling services, like Calendly, are convenient, but can make communications feel less personal. The use of these programs, especially with executives and stakeholders, are best framed as an option rather than the default. Use your judgement and provide the level of service your client needs or prefers.

Please see this recommended best practice on using Google Calendar to sharing booking availabilities below (this is great for working within Residence!):

Guidelines for using scheduling services:

Internal Meetings

Internal meetings can be taken from anywhere and you can dress casually. Show me your freak flag.

If you are sick, please take the day off. Do not take Zoom calls from your bed. Take the time you need to rest and recover.
