There may be holidays, traditions, and observations that fall outside of our company holiday calendar. Additional time off may be requested for these occasions through our PTO policy.
Part and Sum has a non-accrual-based PTO Policy. We encourage team members to take time off but to be thoughtful about their PTO requests.
PTO may be taken for purposes such as vacation, staycations, or personal time, and we highly encourage employees to take time off for these reasons whenever they need or want. You are responsible for ensuring your tasks and projects still get done regardless of the time you take off for vacation or personal time. This time should be tracked
Responsible PTO Approval Requirements
We recommend that you do not book travel prior to confirming approval of your PTO in writing. New employees should not plan a significant vacation in their first three (3) months. Lastly, you may request a maximum of ten (10) consecutive work days.

Although we do our best to support all reasonable requests and to provide a flexible PTO policy, Part and Sum reserves the right to deny requests for PTO based on business needs. We recommend that you do not book travel prior to confirming approval of your PTO in writing. The farther in advance, you submit your PTO request, the better the chance it has for approval.
When evaluating your PTO requests we consider:
All requests are considered on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Planned PTO Team Communication Expectations Once approved, your PTO will sync automatically with your Google Calendar through the Productive Google Calendar Integration (please set this up!)
You should plan to have conversations directly with your account teams at least two weeks in advance of your first day OOO.
Please announce at Kickoff and/or in Slack your OOO plans to the full team and share a link to your OOO Plans Page before you leave.

Life happens. When a sick day is needed alert leadership and adjust your calendar. Jessica can help reschedule meetings as needed. Sam can help with adjusting deadlines and reassigning tasks.
Part and Sum provides up to 56 hours of sick leave per calendar year. This time should be added in Productive under “Book Time Off”.
Sick Leave may be used for:
After sick leave longer than seven (7) consecutive days, the employee may be eligible at that time for benefits under Short-Term Disability (“STD”) and/or Long-Term Disability (“LTD”) policies, under the terms of those policies. Contact [email protected] for additional information on short and long-term disability policies.
Employees are entitled to three (3) unplanned days off with pay:

The purpose of this policy is to afford parents the quality time and flexibility they need to bond with their new child, adjust to new family situations and schedules, and otherwise do what is necessary on the home front so that when the time comes to return to work the employee is rested, energized, focused, and prepared.
In order to benefit from Part and Sum’s paid parental leave policy, employees must claim any and all disability and paid family leave benefits (see examples below) at the earliest point of eligibility.
Part and Sum will provide new birthing parents with up to twelve (12) weeks of paid leave with 100% salary continuation. Salary continuation provided by Part and Sum will be reduced by the amount of any benefit received from disability or paid family leave to ensure that employees do not receive more than 100% of their standard salary.
Birthing parents are entitled to take up to twelve (12) additional weeks of leave without salary continuation after their fully-paid period is completed and within 12 months of the initial parental leave effective date.
Part and Sum will provide non-birthing parents, foster parents and parents by way of adoption with up to eight (8) weeks of paid leave with 100% salary continuation. Salary continuation provided by Part and Sum will be reduced by the amount of any benefit received from disability or paid family leave to ensure that employees do not receive more than 100% of their standard salary.
Non-Birthing Parents, Foster Parents and Parents by Way of Adoption are entitled to take up to sixteen (16) additional weeks of leave without salary continuation after their fully-paid period is completed and within 12 months of the initial parental leave effective date.
After every 5 years at Part and Sum, you can take a paid 6-week break!
Beyond routine time off and holidays, further investment in yourself, personal exploration, and discovery is important.
This time should be added in Productive under “Book Time Off”.
