As our founders Jim and Julie prepare for their second child, we’re taking a moment to update (in public) how we approach our PTO policies. It’s counterintuitive, and perhaps impossible, to craft a one-size-fits-all approach for the uncertainties of life. This week, Julie shared her thinking around how being flexible without judgment, as generous as possible, and prioritizing clarity and equity has helped adapt to the needs of a distributed team. One of those changes includes updating our PTO policy to include miscarriage bereavement and extending the time available for non-birthing parents, foster parents, and parents by way of adoption to support their family as primary caregivers.
